The Coronet Theatre began its life as a Victorian theatre back in the late 1800s. Then known as the Palace Theatre, it acted as a stepping stone for the likes of Charlie Chaplain and remained a popular venue until the late 1940s when it was transformed into a radio studio, with the BBC using it as the home for the Goon Show throughout the 1980s.
THE RESTORATION PROJECTThe 6 month 2 million pound restoration project overseen by renovation experts was planned according to a singular brief - to create a 21st century entertainment venue from the ruins of a beautiful 19th century building that had fallen into disrepair - and in doing so, to restore one of South London's historic venues to its former glory.
The all-new CORONET THEATRE represents a versatile, 21st century, state-of-the-art venue, adaptable for use, from small intimate comedy events to international awards, from intimate gigs to 1,960 stylish cabaret evenings to thumping club nights.
Some recent performances - Oasis, Placebo, Dirty Pretty Things, Blur, Primal Scream, CSS, Mia, The Enemy, Santogold, The Horrors, The Libertines, Juno Reactor, Infected Mushroom, Anitworld parties, Lost Vagueness parties and the ever popular Secretsundaze Parties
The sheer versatility of The Coronet means it suitable for almost any type of event; live music performances, product launches, exhibitions, fashion shows, theatre, conferences and club nights. Day time hire can be used for video shoots, fashion shoots, rehearsal space, pre-production and casting suites.
LICENSEThe Coronet Theatre has a music and dance license from 10am 7am Friday Sunday and is licensed to sell alcohol from 10 am - 5am Friday Sunday. It is also licensed to sell alcohol and have entertainment from 10am 3am Monday Thursday.

Parking Access and Load Ins
Unfortunately there is no parking at the venue. There is an NCP next door which closes at 10:30pm and has a 6 6 height limit. Dispensation for tour busses can be arranged from the local council at a cost of £20, a security guard is required from 6 pm the day before to ensure the spot is available when the bus arrives.
We do have a loading bay at the rear of the venue which can fit an articulated lorry.
